OBJECTS TOOL

Place one asset at a time

In that tool, you will be able to choose from a wide variety of assets and place them one by one on the map. About 1800 built-in objects are included in the software, and you can add many more with custom packs.

Left panel
Right panel

The Objects Tool is split into two parts, one on the left of your screen with controls, and one on the right with the asset selection.

BASIC CONTROLS

  • Select an Object in the right panel and click to place it on the map.

  • Rotate it with your MOUSE WHEEL (15° steps) or with the Rotation Slider on the left.

  • Change its scale by holding ⌥ ALT while scrolling with your mouse wheel.

  • If you want to move it or remove it, you'll need to use the Selection Tool.

ADVANCED CONTROLS

  • Hold A to mirror an asset before placing it.

  • RIGHT CLICK to rotate an object by 90° increments.

  • Hold Z while using the MOUSE WHEEL to rotate an object by 5° steps.

  • Cycle through the objects in the library by holding 🡅 SHIFT and using the MOUSE WHEEL.

For some reason, in the Objects Tool, rotations with the mouse wheel are respectively 15° and 5° steps, but in the Selection Tool, they rotate with 30° and 10° steps (but you can also freely rotate them).

SETTINGS

Layers

You can select the layer you want to place your asset on, and also choose if the next one will be over or under those on the same layers.

Check out the Layers page for more info

Shadow

You can enable or disable drop shadow for each individual object.

With shadow ON
With shadow OFF

Block Light

You can set an asset to block light made with the Light Tool. Basically, the asset will cast a shadow if it is in the light source's range.

Please note that the light source needs to have Shadows enabled.

Author's Thoughts

While this seems like an interesting addition, the object in itself isn't in the light, so it casts shadow over itself. I think it would have made more sense to start the shadow after the asset, so I find this feature a bit frustrating.

Colorable assets

Some assets are fully or partly colorable. By default, they will be displayed with a reddish tint in the asset library on the right, and will be accompanied by a small picker symbol on the the top left of their preview.

You can change the custom color in the left panel. The rectangle is a dropdown menu and the picker icon is a full color picker.

See the Custom Color Palette Chapter for more info.

When you select a color, you see all the colorable assets change in real time in the library. The placed assets won't be affected, but you can change the color of a placed asset in the Selection Tool.

FINDING AN OBJECT

Tags

On the left, there's a list of Tags that can help you finding an asset. Click on a tag and see the corresponding objects in the right panel.

The "Cobweb" tag is selected
Only corresponding objects appear in the list

Sets

If you click on Custom Set, you will open a dropdown menu with several sets of tags you can choose from. The corresponding assets from all the tags will be displayed on the right.

As for the Path Tool, you can use the search bar in the right panel to look for keywords (names of the objects). The slider under it goes from Fuzzy (inexact spelling) to Exact (specific spelling).

You must go in the "All" tab to find the search bar
In Fuzzy mode, "blood" will also show similar words, like "wood"
In Exact mode, "blood" will only show the objects containing "blood" in their names
  • To start or refresh the search, press Enter

  • To reset the search, click on the bin on the right, or hit Enter with an empty box

Used Assets

You can look for assets you've already placed on the map by using the Used tab in the right panel.

Asset info

Since V 1.1.1.0, in the bottom right corner of the screen, you will find the name of the selected asset and the pack it comes from ("Default" being the built-in assets).

Pack: Default assets Asset name: Log Pile 01
Pack: WFW Fantasy A 2.04 (custom pack) Asset name: Sack Filled Apples 01 A
