ADDITIONAL SEARCH OPTIONS

Additional Search Options is a mod that adds search boxes in several tools:

It also adds a few other options to any search box depending on the tool.

It's especially useful when you have a lot of custom assets.

THE BASICS

This is what the newly added Search Bar looks like in most of the tools.

Map Icon - Used Assets

In most tools, the Map Icon can be clicked to automatically find the assets from that tool which were used on the map.

Book Icon - Recent History

In a few tools, you'll find a Book Icon that can be clicked to access your recent search history (limited to the 11 most recent searches).

Tornado Icon - Match Patterns and Terrain

In the Terrain Tool and the Pattern Tool, clicking the Tornado Icon will try to find a match for textures you've used in the other tool.

SETTINGS

When using _Lib, you can access the mods settings from Preferences. By clicking on the gear icon , you will be able to modify some settings related to the mod.

The first one toggles the auto-search as soon as you type in a character. Disabling it is better for less powerful configs. The second one removes any color you might have applied to the walls so they appear with their default look in the search.

OBJECTS & PATHS

The Objects Tool and the Path Tool already have a Search Bar in , but the mod adds a Map Icon (used assets) for the Path Tool and Book Icon (recent history) in both tools.

WALLS, ROOFS & LIGHTS

The mod adds a Search Bar in the Wall Tool, the Roof Tool and the Light Tool, which works the same in each tool. You simply type in the name of the asset you're looking for and it will dynamically appear in the library underneath as you write. You can use the Map Icon to find assets used on the map.

TERRAIN

In the Terrain Brush, you can enable the Search Bar by clicking on the Enable Terrain Search button.

This will display a few new things:

  • a Move Search To RH Panel toggle button

  • a Set Terrain Slot button

  • a Search Bar with two buttons on its right

  • the full Terrain Library

Moving the UI to the right

The Move Search To RH Panel toggle buttonis pretty self explanatory. It will move the mod's to the right of your screen. It's useful when you have a standard resolution like 1920x1080, as the tool will look a bit cramped at the bottom of the left panel by default, especially if you have 8 slots of terrain.

Selecting and using a Terrain

As for the regular terrain tool, you first need to choose the slot you want to use. Click on the one you want to use in the left panel. For this example, let's say we want to use the fourth one.

In the mod's Terrain Library, select the texture you want to apply to that slot.

Then, to apply the selected texture to the slot you chose, click on Set Terrain Slot.

The texture is now set on the slot you selected earlier and you can start to use it.

Searching for a texture

You can use the Search Bar to look for a terrain texture name. Results are displayed dynamically as you type your search.

Matching Terrain and Patterns textures

Using the Terrain Tool and the Pattern Tool together is often required to achieve your design ideas but finding the same texture in both tools is often a pain. The mod has a convenient option to quickly find corresponding textures used in one or another tool, represented by a Tornado icon .

Example of how it works:

  1. Draw a shape in the Pattern Tool with any texture.

  2. In the Terrain Tool, with the mod enabled, click on the Tornado icon

  3. If the texture exists in both tools, it will appear in the Library.

Left: a texture from the Pattern Shape Tool Right: the same texture found in the Terrain Tool

If several different Pattern textures were used, they will be all displayed with this feature.

This feature is also available in the Pattern Tool to match used Terrain textures.

PATTERNS

By default, in the Pattern Tool, the Search Bar is not available due to coding limitations in this tool. You can display it by changing the Search Type from No Search to either Simple Tiles, Patterns or Patterns Colorable.

  • SImple Tiles: textures only available in the Building Tool

  • Patterns: Any other pattern texture from the Pattern Tool

  • Patterns Colorable: any colorable pattern from the Pattern Tool

Once you select any of these 3 options, the Search Bar will be displayed.

You can now type in the name of the Pattern texture you're looking for and the results will be displayed as you type.

Load used Patterns only

Next to the Search Bar, you can see a Map Icon . Clicking on it will automatically find the textures you've used on your map, according to the search type you've selected.

Matching Patterns and Terrain textures

As for this feature in the Terrain Tool, you can find Pattern textures that were used as Terrain on your map if the textures share the same name. For that, you need to click on the Tornado icon .

Example of how it works:

  1. Paint some Terrain textures from custom asset packs

  2. In the Pattern Tool, with the correct Search Type enabled, click on the Tornado icon

  3. If there are matching textures in both tools, they will appear in the Library

SELECTION TOOL

The Selection Tool is also displaying the previous additional search options when selecting either a Path, a Wall, a Pattern or a Light.
