INTERACTIVE AREAS

The different ways to interact with an asset

Selecting an asset

There are two ways to select an asset:

  • Click on it

  • Draw a selection box around it.

Clicking or drawing a box can select an asset

Selecting multiple assets

There are two ways to select several assets:

  • Click on one asset, hold 🡅 SHIFT and click on the next asset

  • Draw a selection box around all the assets you want. Hold 🡅 SHIFT and draw another selection box to add to the first selection.

If you want to draw a selection box inside a Pattern's bounds, you'll need to hold 🡅 SHIFT .

Holding SHIFT or drawing a box can select several assets

Clicking area

An asset can be selected when you hover your cursor over any non transparent pixel of that asset.

In the screenshot below, the transparent assets are in red, so you need to be anywhere but in the red area to select an asset. This works for any kind of selectable asset.

The red is not part of the program, it's just here for you to vizualize better the transparent parts for this asset.

Red = non selectable area

When the asset becomes selectable, you will wee a yellow box around it.

Yellow = possibility to select the asset

To select the asset, click on it when you see the yellow box. The box will change to a blue one, meaning the asset is now selected.

Blue = selected asset

Move, Rotate, Resize

When an asset is selected, you can:

  • Move it by clicking in the area represented by the blue area (including the asset itself) in the screenshot below. Your cursor will change to a cross with four arrows. Click and drag the asset to move it somewhere else.

  • Freely rotate it by clicking in the area represented by the yellow area in the screenshot below. Your cursor will change to a hand. Click and drag to rotate. You can also rotate the asset by 30° steps with your MOUSE WHEEL (press Z for 10° increments).

For some reason, before placing an asset with its own tool, rotations with the mouse wheel are respectively 15° and 5° steps, but in the Selection Tool, they rotate with 30° and 10° steps.

  • Resize it by clicking in the area represented by the green area in the screenshot below. Your cursor will change to a double arrow. Click and drag to resize.

These areas are not tied to the asset but to the zoom percentage of your map. They will always be the same size on your screen, so the more zoomed in you will be, the closer from the asset the areas will be.

Move and Snap to grid

If you want to snap to grid an asset that is off grid, enable Snap by click on Snap in the bottom bar or press S , then select your asset and drag it until it snaps.

  • Custom Snap adds a button to auto-snap your selection, even with multiple assets selected
